SOFT COGS

Originally inspired by the ongoing plight of women in the workforce, and the idea of the female body as machine, a soft, fallible, disposable machine, Soft Cogs, 2019 plays upon of the old adage: “A woman’s work is never done”.  

​Women have had to keep a multitude of plates spinning throughout the pandemic, often unassisted and often in isolation. Attempting to balance the weight of domestic labour, home education and the care of vulnerable dependents, often against the load of fulltime work. COVID 19 has lent this work additional meaning.
