Blown Glass, Stainless Steel Commercial Kitchen Tables, Paper Pulp Bed Pans Coated in Felted Sheep’s Wool and human Hair, Latex Tubing
“Loughlin uses the fragility of glass to describe the female body as a ground for growth and loss. Anatomical, fleshy shapes become stretched and dissected, removed from the body. Latex tubing alludes to umbilical cords and fallopian tubes. Hair and felted sheep’s wool add texture, smell and a repugnant visceral quality that is more accurate than abstracted. Positioned on cold, sanitary surfaces we are invited to consider how the patriarchy has systemically ignored women’s health needs.”
