Propagation I is part of an ongoing series exploring reproduction, with a focus upon the interplay of the biological, medical and domestic. This work focuses on pregnancy, miscarriage and memorial. A small handmade table carries three found glass cloches, originally used to propagate seeds. Within each cloche is a petite oak plinth carrying a cast Plaster of Paris egg lined with red velvet. Resting on the velvet lined eggs are the umbilical scab of my first child, a milk tooth from my second and a lock of my hair. To the left of the table, resting on the floor, are two baby-weight cast Plaster of Paris forms representative of my two lost pregnancies.
